If I blend negative calorie soup…?

May 5th, 2010 admin 3 comments

Ok, you can make negative calorie soup by making homemade vegetable soup using vegetables that take more calories to digest than are actually in them. For example, the soup from “The Cabbage Soup Diet”, or the soup from the “Negative Calorie Diet”.
I hate veggie lumps in my soup, though. If I blend it after cooking, will it still have negative calories? Or will being blended make it easier to digest and therefore no longer negative calorie?.

Is the Catabolic (“Negative Calorie”) Diet for real?

May 5th, 2010 admin 2 comments

Many people claim that this diet really works. They say that eating certain foods such as apples, carrots, tomatoes, and celery will cause a person to lose weight because they require more calories to digest than they actually contain. Is this true or do the positive results of this diet come from its healthy, fiber-rich food options instead? To me, it seems to be a hoax because if this was true, the more of these foods vegetarians eat, the skinnier and skinnier they would get over time.
And if it is true, does that mean that you’d lose weight if you supplement what you usually eat every day with 10 apples? Or do these foods somehow factor into your daily calorie requirements?

This is a question for anyone who knows about the negative calorie food stuff.?

Hi

If you are on a negative calorie diet, can you eat as much fruit as you want?

shouldn’t diet soda be considered a negative calorie thing?

Consider it like this… diet soda has no sugar… and has caffeine… which is a booster for the metabolism… why isn’t it considered negative calorie?

are we the new guinea pigs for splenda? what do you think?

May 5th, 2010 admin 3 comments

i’ve never liked splenda myself but after a story my auntie’s mom told me i decided to do a bit of research. where she lives at she has some family around her, one cousin in particular. well he is a crazy fan of diet dr. pepper.. or diet coke.. i cant remember which, but it was diet none the less so it was full of splenda. anywhoo after many years of excessive drinking of this diet soda he eventually wasn’t able to do anything for himself. at first he couldn’t drive because of his slowed body reactions. it got worse to the point where he couldn’t even get up because he’d fall over after a few minutes of standing. he had to be taken care of like one of those old people regressing into infancy.. sorry that’s the best way i can explain it. well the only thing he gave up was the diet soda. my auntie’s mom had been warning him about the stuff for years. nothing else in his diet changed. he started drinking regular soda instead and well, he regained all his strength and went back to living like his old self. so the only thing my auntie’s mom (who has been a nurse her entire life) could find as the culprit was the splenda in the diet soda. well after the research i’ve done it’s quite disturbing what i’ve found. i know the FDA isn’t exactly our friend when it comes to making sure (100% sure) that the food that makes it to our shelf is safe. food industries fund much of their research so if the FDA doesn’t make them happy.. then that means no funding. splenda has only had 6 months trials done on it and most of it is in rats. they have had such things as enlarge livers, shrunken thymus glands and minor things such as migranes, stomach aches, nausea, etc.

I don’t like to down things because I don’t like them, I would never do that. But the craze today with sugar free this and less sugar in that is a fad and trend health conscious people are taking and running with, and what most disturbs me is all the splenda being put into kid friendly juices and food products. I don’t want our kids to be the guinea pigs for splenda if it really is as harmful as it sounds. I’m not putting this up to say “stop using splenda” i’m putting this up to ask for everyones input..

Has anyone else had any or heard of any negative side effects from using splenda? What do you all think of the articles below on splenda?

http://www.steviacafe.net/dangers-of-splenda

this ones kind of long so please at least read splenda side effects, i think its the most interesting part http://www.womentowomen.com/healthyweight/splenda.aspx

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2000/12/03/sucralose-testimonials.aspx

the most disturbing part to me is that splenda was discovered in the 1970’s (i believe is the time span) as a pesticide! it comes from sugar, but isn’t considered sugar because it was modified by adding CHLORINE atoms. people only digest 17% of splenda so that is why it is considered to have no calories because you don’t digest any of it. but more healthy people can possibly digest more of this stuff and therefore digest more of the harmful chlorine. i just want to spread some knowledge and get some input. thank you for reading.
i didn’t even realize one of the sites was selling something. i don’t believe sugar is bad for you, but in excess it can be of course. anything in excess can be harmful in some way. thank you for all your input, i’m not into substitutions at all so i wasn’t trying to support anything one of these sites was selling, i was just curious wat others thought. thank you again for the insight.

I need to lose a large amount of weight. Help!?

May 5th, 2010 admin 11 comments

I am currently 185 lbs. It is March 16th today. I want to eventually weight around 120-125 because that is what I have been told it should be for my height (I am 5 ft 3). This means I need to lose about 60-65 lbs.
I am tired of feeling like the ugliest girl in the room at all times and having no confidence/respect for myself. I shouldn’t feel this miserable about myself at 18. The problem is: I don’t know where to start.
I know I need to diet and exercise obviously. But what do I eat? How do I diet? Do I cut calories? Do I watch fat grams? Should I worry less about nutritional labels and just worry about eating more fruits and veggies and less processed food each day?
I am kind of out of shape now. How do I start incorporating a workout routine into my everyday life without being so out of element that I give up because I feel hopeless? I have free access to my college’s recreational center and gym by the way.

I just don’t want to fail this time around. I CAN’T fail. It’s that simple. I need this. I need to feel good about myself and be healthy and get guys and wear a bikini and like pictures of myself. If anyone out there can please help me out with as much detail and as few negative comments as possible I would really appreciate it. It’s even more helpful if you personally did what you’re saying and can tell me your story in detail. I need that right now. Also, if you could tell me how long it should take me to reach my goal weight that would be helpful too so I have a marker to strive for at the very least. My birthday is in mid July and the more improvement I can make by then the better.

Thank you so much in advance! :)
no i dont want a quick easy magical way to lose it. i want something that will work thats why im asking for help…
Also, since I didn’t exactly make it clear. I am a girl… lol
